Why I’m starting good furniture.

For the last 8 years, I have been working in Toronto as a desk jockey. Every winter, as the season takes us indoors, I venture into my dad's woodshop (the garage) with the goal of building a functional piece of furniture for our apartment. In the woodshop, I feel creative. I find it difficult to put the feeling of creativity into words, but maybe the simplest way to put it is that I feel fully immersed in the process - more present and focused. This is a feeling that would only happen sporadically while working my day job.

Starting good furniture is the first step for me to move away from zoom calls and flipping through browser tabs and more towards feeling creative and fulfilled on a daily basis.
